Where
does Keith get these WILD ideas for Car Caricatures?
...from personal experience of course....
|
Keith's first vehicle was a '87 Toyota
4x4 truck.
Keith modified it from stock to 31's, then 33's then 35's, each time
requiring more lift. Eventually the original 4
cylinder was relieved of its duties to make way for a Chevrolet 350 V8! Keith performed all the modifications. |
|
A '69 Camaro followed,
the car's body was in pretty good shape, but it needed almost everything
mechanical. Keith rebuilt this car from sub frame up with goodies
such as a Racing Head Service 355 engine, M21
4speed trans, 4.11:1 posi rearend, complete brakes and suspension. |
|
More lifted Toyotas followed; 3" Body lift with 33's on the (silver) '89 SR5 V6, and Keith installed a 4" suspension lift and 35 BFG's on the (blue) '90 SR5 V6.
|
|
Then it was a '68 Camaro 327, TH400
Slapstick Automatic, with Houndstooth Interior. Keith added the stripes, Flowmaster exhaust and engine detailing. |
|
Keith also tried his hand at "lowering" a truck; using spindles and blocks. Keith lowered this '95 S10 by 2"in the front
& 4" in the rear, custom fit '95 IROC wheels, and
installed a roll pan. This was the first vehicle Keith painted entirely...and he learned a lot... |
|
In and out of the mix
was a '89 5.0 Mustang LX Coupe. After reading an article in the 1987 May
issue of Hot Rod magazine on Mustang LX Notchback vs. the GT, Keith started
saving his money. After purchasing one new in February of 1989, it stayed stock for about two weeks, before Keith
had the wrenches flying in typical gearhead fashion. Some mods led to more mods and so on. Some of the highlights were: 4 wheel disc
brakes, Flowmaster 2 chamber system, Hurst Comp + shifter, K&N, SVO headers,
2-1/2"
H-pipe, SVO 650# springs (which ended up lowering the car 2"), Moser HS axles, underdrive
pulleys, line lock, newer style 16" wheels, etc. Keith
sold this car in 1994, only to buy it back again in 1997, then sold it in
1999, then (see below)... |
|
Harsh New England
winters demands a workhorse, Keith chose a '96 F250HD, with a 5.8L, 3"
lift and 35 BFGoodrich M/T's. Keith hand built a 3" dual
exhaust using Flowmasters,
and completely rebuilt a 7-1/2' Fisher Minute Mount (Snow) plow.
With 4.10:1 gears it goes just about anywhere. |
|
'Project 68' was his biggest undertaking
yet. Not one bolt was left unturned on this one.
This Mustang was a factory GT "S" code 390, in fact according to Kevin Marti the car was
one of one with the options ordered which included front BENCH seat, power disc brakes,
blackout
hood, 335HP Big Block 390ci 4V and Ford's Top loader 4 speed.
Keith took the car down to Carlisle, Pennsylvania and took part in the
Primedia Pony Trails and the All Ford Nationals.
...which resulted in a full two page feature in July 2004 issue of
Mustangs & Fords.
and a full three page feature in October 2005 issue of Mustang Monthly! |

And in case there's any question about the Aluminum headed 390...move your mouse over the

The '68 is gone, sadly sold during the move to
Maine. However, Keith never forgot the fun
he had with that '89 Black Mustang Coupe. So
when his nephew presented him with a low mileage, 1993, Black, 5.0L,
5-speed, Sedan, with no rust...the only question was, "How much?"
It needed TLC, but nothing eBay and some long nights
couldn't cure. Everything was put back to original, with the following
upgrades; bigger front brake calipers, Cobra grille insert, aluminum
radiator and water pump, FRPP silicone hoses, custom oil and temp gauges
in the dash and a 600 Watt CD/Amp/Stereo to complete the package.
All good things come to an end, a good deal on an '01 Bullitt (below) forced
the early sale of this ride. |
|
The '93 made way for a 2001 Mustang Bullitt/GT.
Keith always wanted one of these, and found a low mileage, clean, black
specimen owned by an older gentlemen. #4343. Famous story, but true.
Only mods Keith dared to do to this car were K&N air filter, Mach1 grille
and chin spoiler, custom shifter knob and 18" Argent Silver Bullitt style
wheels with Goodyear F1 DS-G3 tires. Keith went with 18x10 wrapped
with 285/35 for the rear and 18x9 wrapped with 255/40 for the front.
Awesome handling and great looks. The car ended up being a little
underpowered compared to Keith's previous rides and it was just too prestine to modify further, so it was sold too. |

It's too bad you just can't keep all your cars...but
if there was one Mustang that Keith lusted after ever since it's
introduction in late 2002, it was the 390HP/390TQ supercharged 4.6L DOHC
Mustang SVT Cobra dubbed the "Terminator" by Ford. It took
Keith months to negotiate a deal with a local Sonic Blue one
the summer of 2006. The first three pictures are as delivered.
As the 28th vehicle, this may very
well be one to keep. In the Northeast, most hobby cars are put away
for the winter, each winter season is a chance for Keith to upgrade and
modify. 06/07 Winter, the Cobra saw the following: 10th
anniversary red calipers at all four corners along with stainless steel
braided brake lines. 18x9/10 chrome Saleen wheels with 295/35 and
275/35 Goodyear F1 GS-D3's. Race aluminum radiator and dual pass
supercharger intercooler heat exchanger both increasing the cooling
capacity. High Performance Bassani stainless steel X pipe with cats
and high flow Bassani stainless steel cat back exhaust. Clutch,
pressure plate, throw out bearing and transmission input shaft were all
upgraded to Viper 26 spline specs. While the transmission was out,
extra cooling modifications were installed in the back of the heads.
All in preparation for more boost...after changing the super charger
pulley to 2.76" diameter, the beast now runs 13.5 psig, resulting in SAE
480 ft.-lbf Torque and 436 HP. Dyno tuned and ready for action.
In the winter of 2008, Keith installed Innovative Technologies wide band
O2 sensor and AFR gauge, along with a Speedhut Fuel Pressure gauge all in
Speed of Sound pillar pods. Custom wiring was done to allow
integrated real time data logging, and optimization of the current set-up. |
|
Still with Keith since 2002, is the '01 F350 Super Duty Super Cab.
Keith added 2" lift springs at each corner, and tried 315/75/16 BFG A/T's. Keith painted the bumpers and grille to complete
the "Fx4" look, see first three pictures. Next renovation
included steel cowl induction hood, Harley Davidson 20" rims, grey two
tone paint, Borla Stainless steel exhaust, Pro-Comp MX6 shocks billet gas
cap and grille. During the brake maintenance, Keith painted the
calipers red. Future plans call for a custom stainless steel y-pipe
and some long California ghost flames fading into a checkered flag hidden
in the lower Smoke Grey color... |

The F350 was relieved of it's duties in favor of a
more fuel efficient '04 Toyota Tacoma SR5 V6 TRD Double Cab. Keith
was happy about the (almost) doubled gas mileage, but after a short month
of driving this anemic looking factory stock truck, a facelift was in
order. Keith installed Fat Bob's Garage 2.5" lift strut spacers in the front,
and 2" add-a-leafs in the rear. Shoes are 8x10 American Racing ATX
aluminum rims with Teflon coating, wrapped in 285/75/16 Goodyear Wranglers,
a tonneau cover and a new roof rack finish out the "Sport" look.
Then he painted the flares radiant red to match the rest of the truck, and
built a custom hood. The "hood project" entailed re-working the hood scoop
from a wrecked '99 4Runner and grafting it to a Tacoma hood.
Keith converted the custom bike rack (built for the F350) to the new ride
too. Upgrades in progress
are manual hub conversion, new axle shafts with high angle CV joints, and longer shocks
for the rear. A full undercoating needed before winter hits too! |
